- What should I wear for a hike?

- Do you allow children or seniors on hikes?

Yes! We organize family-friendly hikes perfect for children and seniors. Each event includes an age and difficulty suitability rating. Our team can also customize the pace or trail for special groups, ensuring everyone enjoys the adventure.
- What fitness level is required to join your hikes?
Answer:
We classify all hikes as Beginner, Moderate, or Challenging. Even if you’re unfit or just starting out, we’ll recommend trails that suit you and guide you on how to build your endurance safely.
- Is Cushy Adventures beginner-friendly?
Answer:
Yes, we specialize in introducing beginners to hiking in Kenya. Many of our clients start with no experience. Our friendly guides will help you every step of the way — from gear checks to pacing and motivation.
- What is your cancellation policy?
Answer:
Here’s how cancellations work:
- Full refund or future transfer if cancelled at least 72 hours in advance
- 50% refund for cancellations between 48–72 hours before departure
- No refund if cancelled within 48 hours or on the day (no-show)
- Bookings are transferable to another person with prior notice
- 100% refund if Cushy Adventures cancels the hike due to unavoidable circumstances
- How long do your hikes last?
Answer:
Our day hikes typically take 4 to 8 hours, depending on the trail. Travel time from Nairobi is additional and specified in the hike itinerary sent before your trip.
- Can I join a hike alone?
Answer:
Absolutely. Many of our guests hike solo and end up making new friends. We foster a welcoming community spirit — perfect for solo hikers seeking adventure and connection.
- Do you rent hiking gear?
Answer:
We do not rent, but we own an outdoor gear shop in Nairobi. Members of our hiking community enjoy up to 10% off all purchases. We stock essentials such as hydration packs, gaiters, trekking poles, thermal jackets, and more.
- Are meals included in the hikes?
Answer:
Unless stated otherwise, meals are not included. We recommend bringing:
- Fruits or snacks (nuts, protein bars)
- Refillable water bottlesWe’ll always inform you if food options are available near the trail.
However, for camping and treks that takes more than a day, we provide 3 course meals to our Hikers.
- What time do hikes start?
Answer:
We usually depart Nairobi between 4:30 AM and 6:30 AM, depending on the destination. The common pick-up point is Opposite International House, CBD. For private or large groups, alternative pick-up arrangements can be made.
- Do you offer private or corporate group hikes?
Answer:
Yes. We offer custom hiking experiences for:

- What mode of transport do you use?
Answer:
We provide luxury tour vehicles for all our hikes , not matatus or public transport. Our drivers are licensed, insured, and trained to offer a comfortable and safe experience.
- What’s your guide-to-hiker ratio?
Answer:
We maintain a 1:5 guide-to-hiker ratio. For groups smaller than 7, we still allocate 2 guides for safety.
For high-altitude summits (e.g., Mt. Kenya, Mt. Kilimanjaro), each client is assigned a dedicated summit guide for personalized attention and support.
- How can I manage altitude sickness while hiking above 3000m?
Answer:
When hiking in high-altitude zones like Mt. Kenya or Mt. Kilimanjaro, altitude sickness is a real concern. Here are key tips from our experienced Cushy Adventures guides:
- Train in advance with lower-elevation hikes to improve endurance
- Hydrate frequently – drink at least 3–4 liters daily
- Pace yourself – avoid rushing or competing
- Eat light but energy-rich meals
- Listen to your body – report headaches, nausea, or dizziness early
