THE MOUNTAIN MENU

  • All our food is fresh, and the meals are tasty, well-prepared, and served by our staff. Three-course meals with vegetables, fruit, salads, desserts, soups, popcorn, biscuits, and a complete range of beverages including herbal teas. We want you to enjoy your holiday in Mount Kilimanjaro, which means good food! Our cooks are all well experienced in Western tastes so expect as an example a soup starter with bread, tomato, and avocado side salad followed by chicken casserole with boiled potatoes and julienne carrots with a fresh fruit medley to finish with, and coffee and chocolate for supper.
  • If you have dietary preferences then do write this to us after you make up your mind that you will be trekking with us, also inform Cushy Adventures staff after your arrival/briefing. Our cooks can easily cater to most preferences.

  • The pack that the porters carry is limited to one duffle or hiking bag weighing no more than 15kg (35 pounds), while you carry your day pack so do not over pack.

    1. Hiking Mt.Kilimanjaro Adventure Conquer the Roof of Africa: Mt.Kilimanjaro Expedition

      ITINERARY

      1. Day 1: Nairobi to Moshi – Drive
      • Travel from Nairobi to Moshi, Tanzania.
      • Check-in at Keys Hotel in Moshi for an overnight stay.
      • Accommodation on a Half Board basis.
      1. Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp – 11 km (5-7 hours)
      • Wake up at 6 am and enjoy breakfast.
      • Depart from the hotel at 8 am to Machame Gate (1,800 meters / 5,905 feet above sea level).
      • Hiking gears checked, and briefing from lead guide and crew.
      • Begin the 11 km hike to Machame Camp (2,835 meters / 9,301 feet ASL).
      • Enjoy packed lunch en route.
      • Dinner served at 6 pm. Overnight stay in tents at Machame Camp.
      1. Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp – 6 km (5-7 hours)
      • Start the hike at 8 am.
      • Lunch served halfway through the hike.
      • Arrive at Shira Camp (3,750 meters / 12,303 feet ASL) by 2 pm. Rest before proceeding to Shira Plateau.
      • Brief history of Shira Plateau from the guide. Visit Shira Cave.
      • Dinner served at 6 pm with traditional songs and crew introduction.
      1. Day 4: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
      • Hike from Shira Camp to Lava Tower (4,630 meters / 15,190 feet ASL).
      • Lunch to be served halfway through the hike.
      • Descend to Barranco Camp (3,940 meters / 12,992 feet ASL).
      • Ascending to an altitude of 4,630 meters and subsequently descending to 3,960 meters aims to facilitate acclimatization.
      • Enjoy views from the western bridge before dinner.
      1. Day 5: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
      • Hike through Baranco Wall as you ”kiss the wall.”
      • Proceed to Barafu Camp (4,670 meters / 15,321 feet ASL) for the night.
      • Day 6: Summit Attempt – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Barafu Camp
      • Wake up at 11 pm. Light breakfast served and packed snacks.
      • Leave camp at 12 am for the summit.
      • Ascend to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters / 19,341 feet ASL). After reaching the summit at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, take some time to savor the moment and capture memories with photographs.
      • Return to Barafu Camp for brunch.
      • Descend to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters / 10,171 feet ASL).
      1. Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
      • Hike from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate.
      • Final briefing with the crew before heading to the hotel.
      • Accommodation on a Half Board basis.
      1. Day 8: Moshi to Nairobi via Namanga Border
      • Drive back to Nairobi via the Namanga border.
