About This Event

Take on three of the most iconic and demanding trails in the Aberdare Range — the classic Elephant Hill Hike, the newly curated Twelve Apostles Trail, and the epic Elephant Hill Traverse. Each route offers unique terrain, dramatic views, and a test of endurance for adventurous hikers.
The Twelve Apostles Trail is a newly curated route in the Aberdare Ranges, offering one of the most demanding yet rewarding hiking experiences in Aberdare National Park. Beginning at Njabini via the Elephant Hill markers, the trail plunges into the dramatic Kinangop Valley before ascending the rugged ridges of the 12 Apostles peaks. This is the ultimate endurance challenge, rivaled only by the Mt. Kenya Day Dash — three summits, one day, one adventure. Along the way, hikers encounter boggy moorlands, steep ridge scrambles, and sweeping Aberdare panoramas. Unique geological features such as “The Eye” add intrigue to the journey, making this trail a true test of stamina, resilience, and spirit. Designed for seasoned adventurers, the Twelve Apostles Trail rewards determination with raw wilderness, breathtaking scenery, and the satisfaction of conquering one of Kenya’s toughest hikes.

Preparation Guidelines

• Get moving with active cardio exercises like aerobics, walking, running, cycling, and swimming during the week leading up to the event.
• Designate the day before the hike for some well-deserved rest—give your body a break from intense exercises.
• Amp up your hydration game at least two days before hitting the trail.
• Make sure to prioritize a good night's sleep before the hike.
• Boost your energy reserves by upping your carbohydrate intake two days prior. If you're into intermittent fasting or on a diet, take a one-day break around the hike.
• Trim those toenails—your feet will thank you later!
• Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at least three hours before the event. This ensures your body has time to digest, providing the energy you need without making your stomach feel too full.
• Take a pre-hike bathroom break at home to minimize pit stops during your journey.
• Prepare your mindset for self-conquest. Remember, hiking is 90% mental, 10% physical prep. Once you conquer your mind, the rest is a breeze. You've got this!
