About This Event

This 2-day camping experience in Castle Forest on the slopes of Mt. Kenya combines gentle hiking, waterfalls, and a peaceful overnight stay in the wild. The trail winds through dense forest with rivers and scenic clearings perfect for relaxation. It’s an ideal family-friendly escape blending adventure and comfort in nature.
The Castle Forest Family Camping Experience begins with a scenic drive to the Castle Forest section of Mt. Kenya, followed by a relaxed hike through dense indigenous forest. The trail is rich with towering trees, bamboo sections, and a cool mountain atmosphere, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. Along the route, hikers encounter streams, small waterfalls, and open glades ideal for breaks and exploration. The hike leads to a designated campsite deep within the forest, surrounded by nature and offering a peaceful environment to unwind. The setting provides a unique opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the calm of the forest, with the sounds of birds, flowing water, and distant wildlife creating a truly immersive outdoor experience. As evening sets in, the forest atmosphere becomes even more serene, with time to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. On the second day, participants enjoy a light morning exploration around the forest, visiting nearby waterfalls or viewpoints depending on time and group energy. The return hike is gentle and refreshing, allowing families to fully take in the beauty of the forest before heading back. This experience is designed to be accessible, safe, and enjoyable while still offering a true outdoor camping adventure.

Preparation Guidelines

• Get moving with active cardio exercises like aerobics, walking, running, cycling, and swimming during the week leading up to the event.
• Designate the day before the hike for some well-deserved rest—give your body a break from intense exercises.
• Amp up your hydration game at least two days before hitting the trail.
• Make sure to prioritize a good night's sleep before the hike.
• Boost your energy reserves by upping your carbohydrate intake two days prior. If you're into intermittent fasting or on a diet, take a one-day break around the hike.
• Trim those toenails—your feet will thank you later!
• Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at least three hours before the event. This ensures your body has time to digest, providing the energy you need without making your stomach feel too full.
• Take a pre-hike bathroom break at home to minimize pit stops during your journey.
• Prepare your mindset for self-conquest. Remember, hiking is 90% mental, 10% physical prep. Once you conquer your mind, the rest is a breeze. You've got this!
