About This Event

Embark on a thrilling 4‑day, 3‑night Mt. Kenya hiking adventure via the scenic Chogoria route. Experience breathtaking landscapes, volcanic lakes, and the exhilarating summit of Point Lenana at 4,985m.
The Mt. Kenya Hiking – 4 Days, 3 Nights via Chogoria Route offers one of the most scenic and rewarding trekking experiences on Africa’s second-highest mountain. Starting at Chogoria Gate, the trail winds through enchanting Hargenia forests, tussock grasslands, and moorlands dotted with volcanic features. Along the way, hikers encounter Lake Ellis, the dramatic Nithi Falls, and panoramic views of Mugi Hill and the Giant Billiard Table, before ascending to the breathtaking Mintos Camp overlooking Lake Michaelson. What makes the Chogoria route unique is its unmatched beauty and diversity. Unlike other approaches, it combines lush forests, golden moorlands, volcanic lakes, and dramatic rock formations such as the Temple, offering a constantly changing landscape. The route provides spectacular vantage points of Mt. Kenya’s peaks—Batian, Nelion, and Lenana—and culminates in a sunrise summit at Point Lenana (4,985m), one of the most iconic views in East Africa. Descending via the Sirimon route, trekkers enjoy contrasting scenery through Mackinder’s Valley and rolling moorlands, making this traverse a complete adventure that showcases the very best of Mt. Kenya. With professional guides, porters, and full camping support, Cushy Adventures ensures a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable journey through Kenya’s most celebrated mountain. Expect fresh, tasty meals prepared by experienced cooks, including soups, salads, casseroles, fruits, and desserts. Dietary preferences can be catered for upon request. Water is boiled from streams and refilled daily.

Preparation Guidelines

• Get moving with active cardio exercises like aerobics, walking, running, cycling, and swimming during the week leading up to the event.
• Designate the day before the hike for some well-deserved rest—give your body a break from intense exercises.
• Amp up your hydration game at least two days before hitting the trail.
• Make sure to prioritize a good night's sleep before the hike.
• Boost your energy reserves by upping your carbohydrate intake two days prior. If you're into intermittent fasting or on a diet, take a one-day break around the hike.
• Trim those toenails—your feet will thank you later!
• Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at least three hours before the event. This ensures your body has time to digest, providing the energy you need without making your stomach feel too full.
• Take a pre-hike bathroom break at home to minimize pit stops during your journey.
• Prepare your mindset for self-conquest. Remember, hiking is 90% mental, 10% physical prep. Once you conquer your mind, the rest is a breeze. You've got this!
