Preparation Guidelines

Prepping your body is as important as your gear. Even a beginner-friendly hike can feel intense without basic fitness.
Pre-Hike Preparation Tips:
Train during the week – Cardio activities like walking, running, cycling, and swimming help build stamina for hiking.
Rest the day before – Avoid strenuous workouts to let your muscles recover.
Hydrate in advance – Start drinking extra water at least 48 hours before your hike.
Get quality sleep – Aim for 7–8 hours of rest the night before to keep your energy up.
Fuel up with carbs – Eat energy-rich meals (pasta, rice, sweet potatoes) two days prior. If you’re fasting or dieting, consider pausing around the hike.
Trim your toenails – Prevent pain and pressure, especially on downhill trails.
Eat a hearty breakfast – Eat at least 2–3 hours before hiking for steady energy.
Bathroom break at home – A pre-hike stop saves time and discomfort on the trail.

Mental Preparation: The Key to a Successful Hike
At Cushy Adventures, we always say: Hiking is 90% mental, 10% physical. Once you conquer your mindset, your legs will follow. Here’s how to mentally prep:
Set your own pace – it’s a hike, not a race
Expect and embrace discomfort – that’s where growth happens
Focus on the views, the fresh air, and the joy of movement
Remember: every step is a victory

When you're mentally prepared, even steep climbs like Elephant Hill or Mount Satima become conquerable.
Why Prepare with Cushy Adventures?
We specialize in hiking experiences across Kenya, from beginner trails like Kilimambogo to summit adventures on Mt. Kenya and Mt.Kilimanjaro. Our expert guides, community vibe, and safety-first approach ensure your journey is both memorable and rewarding.
